BREAKING From: Live: US and Israel attack Iran as Trump declares “major combat operations”

Tehran hardens stance as foreign minister says Iran has not sought a truce

Iran says it has not asked for a ceasefire and is not seeking negotiations with Washington, according to foreign minister Abbas Araghchi.

In an interview with CBS News, Araghchi says Tehran is prepared to keep defending itself for as long as necessary during the current conflict with the United States.

He also says Iran will continue that approach unless President Donald Trump accepts, in his view, that the war is illegal and cannot be won.

Araghchi uses the interview to attack the US administration’s handling of the conflict. He says actions including the targeting of ships amount to a war chosen by Mr Trump and the United States.

The Iranian minister also dismisses the idea that Tehran is fighting for its survival. He tells CBS News that Iran’s government remains stable and strong enough to protect its people without entering talks.
