An Israeli air strike has hit the town of Bir al-Salasil in southern Lebanon, according to Al Jazeera journalists at the scene.

The reported strike is in the Bint Jbeil district, close to the Israeli border, an area that has seen repeated attacks in recent months.

Al Jazeera reports that more than 1,000 people in Lebanon have been killed in Israeli strikes since the start of March.

There is no immediate official word on casualties from the latest attack.
