Iran says it will exercise its “legitimate right to self-defence” after Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi accuses Keir Starmer of allowing the US to use British bases for strikes on Iranian targets.
In a post on social media, Araghchi says the strikes hit Iranian missile sites linked, according to the claim, to threats against shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
He also says “the vast majority of the British people” do not want the UK drawn into what he describes as the “US-Israel war on Iran”.
Araghchi argues that, by allowing UK bases to be “used for aggression against Iran”, Starmer is “putting British lives in danger”.
He says Iran will respond by exercising what he calls its right to self-defence.
