Israel’s prime minister has appealed directly to the Iranian public, calling on them to use what he described as a rare chance to bring down the country’s Islamic leadership.
In a message posted on his office’s official X account, Benjamin Netanyahu said Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was gone and suggested Iranians would not want to see one form of authoritarian rule replaced by another.
He urged people to take action, saying Israel was helping to create the circumstances for change.
Netanyahu also said the moment for such a move was drawing near, telling Iranians to be prepared to act when the opportunity arrived.
We are focused on regime targets and are doing our best not to harm the People of Iran.
