Intercepted missile debris drops near Al-Aqsa compound, reporter says

Reporting from Ramallah in the occupied West Bank, Nour Odeh says sirens have sounded 10 times in Israel today because of Iranian missile fire.

Odeh also says warning sirens have gone off more frequently in northern Israel in response to rockets launched by Hezbollah.

She reports that while the Iranian missiles have not caused large numbers of civilian injuries, they have led to significant damage in several areas.

According to Odeh, one of the most striking incidents is in occupied East Jerusalem, where what officials describe as interception debris lands very close to the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.

She says the compound is closed by Israeli authorities, and that several cars nearby are damaged by the falling debris.

Odeh says the incident underlines a basic risk of missile interceptions: debris still falls to the ground, and in a densely built and highly sensitive area such as Jerusalem’s Old City, that means it can come down close to homes and religious sites.
