US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth says the United States is “investigating” reports about Saturday’s strike on an Iranian girls’ school that Iranian authorities say killed more than 160 people.

The remarks came after a BBC reporter asked about the incident — and then followed up again when Hegseth initially avoided giving a direct answer.

“All I can say is that we are investigating that,” Hegseth said. “We of course never target civilian targets, but we are taking a look and investigating that.”
