Denmark Supreme Court Hears Landmark Challenge Over Arms Exports to Israel

Denmark’s Supreme Court is set to hear a high-profile case over the country’s arms exports to Israel, following a legal challenge brought by four humanitarian organisations.

The case centres on claims that Denmark is breaching international law by allowing the export of components for F-35 fighter jets used by Israel.

The lawsuit was brought by Palestinian rights group Al-Haq, alongside ActionAid Denmark and the Danish branches of Amnesty International and Oxfam. The organisations argue Denmark is failing to meet its international obligations given allegations of Israeli war crimes and genocide in Gaza.

A lower court dismissed the case in April 2025, rejecting the challenge against Denmark’s foreign ministry and national police.

The Supreme Court will not yet rule on the legality of the arms sales themselves, but instead will decide whether the organisations have the right to bring the issue before the courts.
