Turkey says no casualties after missile intercepted, warns it has ‘right to respond’

Turkey’s Defence Ministry says NATO air defences intercepted a ballistic missile launched from Iran, with debris falling in Turkey’s Dörtyol district near the Mediterranean.

The ministry said there were no casualties.

In its statement, Turkey said it is “capable of ensuring the security of its territory and citizens, regardless of who or where the threat comes from”.

“We remind you that we reserve the right to respond to any hostile act towards our country,” it added, urging all parties to refrain from actions that could further spread the conflict across the region.
