Kuwait’s state oil company says it has begun a “precautionary reduction” in crude oil production and refining, citing the continuing attacks on the Gulf state and Iranian threats to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
In a statement, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) said the move forms part of its risk management and business continuity strategy, and that the adjustment will be reviewed as the situation develops.
KPC added it is ready to restore output once conditions allow, and said domestic fuel and energy needs remain fully secured under existing contingency plans.
