Israel has carried out fresh strikes in Dahieh, Beirut’s southern suburbs — an area it describes as a Hezbollah stronghold.
The Israeli military said it was targeting Hezbollah infrastructure. Loud explosions have been reported over the past few hours, and Reuters footage has shown plumes of smoke rising into the night sky.
Israel issued evacuation warnings for the area ahead of the strikes — a wider alert than previous orders, which were often limited to individual buildings.
Amid the escalation, Kuwait’s embassy in Lebanon has advised its citizens to leave the country as soon as possible.
