Israel’s military says it has killed a senior Iranian commander it identifies as the head of the Quds Force’s “Lebanon Corps”, Daoud Ali Zadeh.
In a statement, IDF spokesperson Brig Gen Effie Defrin said Israeli fighter jets struck “in the heart of Tehran”, targeting Zadeh, who Israel describes as a senior Quds Force official and the commander responsible for Lebanon-related operations.
Defrin said Zadeh had been attempting to direct attacks on Israel from Lebanese territory and claimed Israel “eliminated him on Iranian soil”.
The IDF also described Zadeh as the highest-ranking Iranian commander overseeing Lebanon, alleging he helped guide Hezbollah and other Iran-aligned groups’ military capabilities.
There has been no independent confirmation of the claim, and we have not yet seen a response from Iranian officials.
