Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have warned that any American military ships, or those of allied nations, passing through the Strait of Hormuz would be at risk of attack.

The statement followed earlier remarks by US Energy Secretary Chris Wright, who had claimed on X that the US Navy had escorted an oil tanker through the strategic waterway before later deleting the post.

Responding to that claim, IRGC naval commander Alireza Tangsiri said reports of a tanker crossing the strait under American military protection were completely untrue.

He added that any movement by US or allied naval forces through the area would be met with Iranian missiles and so-called suicide drones.
