The latest coordinated attacks involving Iran and Hezbollah appear to underline that the Lebanese armed group still retains significant military capability.
Israeli media reports suggest the scale of the threat has prompted the army to warn troops to avoid certain roads near the Lebanese border because of the risk of anti-tank missile fire from Hezbollah.
There are also growing concerns over the nature of the weapons being used. Israeli sources fear some of the missiles launched by Iran may contain cluster munitions, while Hezbollah’s own arsenal is said to be more potent than Israeli planners had anticipated.
