Hezbollah has claimed it carried out a series of attacks on Israeli forces in southern Lebanon, including an ambush that it says left three Israeli tanks burning.

The Lebanese armed group said its fighters targeted Israeli soldiers on the outskirts of Khiam and struck three Merkava tanks during the assault.

Earlier in the day, Hezbollah said it launched two barrages of rockets at Israeli troops in Merkaba and also carried out an artillery strike on Israeli forces in the Khanouq area near Aitaroun.

It further claimed responsibility for a rocket attack on Israeli soldiers in the Kahil Heights, on the eastern edge of the border town of Maroun al-Ras.
