Donald Trump and Qatar's emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, spoke by phone on Friday 6 November about de-escalation, the emir's office said.
Iran has sent the US a nuclear proposal through Qatar, a senior Iranian official told Reuters, as reported by Times of Israel. The official said the proposal would be discussed only after Washington meets seven demands. Reuters also reports that Washington is reviewing the proposal.
The condition is consistent with AP's earlier report. AP quoted an official familiar with the talks as saying Iran would not negotiate over its nuclear activities until Washington first agreed to several conditions it wants in a ceasefire agreement. The seven demands have not been made public, and the Reuters account has not been independently checked.
Commenting on diplomatic efforts on Thursday 5 November, Trump told reporters: "It doesn't make any difference what they're looking at," according to CNBC.
