Donald Trump was told that Monday 9 November could be a suitable day to relaunch strikes on Iran, according to a Fox News report relayed by India TV News.
India TV says officials gave Trump that advice at his post-midterm national security meetings because 9 November is a new moon, so there would be "little moonlight". Citing Fox News, it says Trump held two meetings with his national security team this week.
The Times of Israel also carried the Fox claim in a headline on 7 November, reporting that the military favours conditions on 9 November for a new attack.
The report is anonymously sourced and has not been independently checked. No decision to resume strikes has been announced. On Thursday Trump said he would decide soon.
CNBC reported on 7 November that Rapidan Energy puts an 80% chance on fighting resuming as diplomacy stalls. CNBC also reported that a third US carrier strike group is on its way to the region.
