Crude oil prices have fallen more than 16% over the last five trading days, CNBC reported on 7 November. Investors are hoping the Democratic win in the midterm elections will force an end to the war with Iran.

According to CNBC, Bob McNally of Rapidan Energy expects prices to go back above $100 a barrel if fighting resumes.
CNBC also says Democrats' options are limited for now. Congress is unlikely to pass a war powers resolution before Democrats take control in January, and Donald Trump can veto one.
Trump told reporters on Thursday 5 November that "Iran will never have a nuclear weapon", according to CNBC.
CNBC reports that the account of Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei said the US's collapse had accelerated after the midterm results.
