UKMTO has reported two separate tanker incidents around the Strait of Hormuz, not one, according to France 24 and ABC News.
In the first, a tanker caught fire off the coast of Khasab, Oman, and its crew was evacuated.
In the second, UKMTO says another tanker was "struck by an unknown projectile while transiting outbound through the Strait of Hormuz" on Saturday 7 November. Neither alert names the vessels or says who fired.
The IRGC Navy separately says three "non-compliant" tankers exploded and caught fire in what it calls the "illegal channel", France 24 reports. It has not named them or given their nationalities.
No source links either UKMTO incident to the IRGC's claim. The IRGC's account of the cause has not been independently confirmed.
