Kemi Badenoch, the leader of the Conservative Party, and shadow minister Alex Burghart have travelled to Athens for meetings with Rupert Murdoch and senior executives from News Corp.
The trip, which took place in August, was funded by News Corp UK. It has since been entered into the Register of Members' Financial Interests, highlighting the engagement between the party leadership and one of the world's most influential media owners.
The flight to Greece occurred on 24 August. Ms Badenoch was accompanied by her husband, Hamish, and Mr Burghart.
According to official parliamentary records, the cost of travel and accommodation was £8,177. This figure was registered as a gift provided by News Corp UK.
Byline Times has alleged that the total value of summer trips funded by the media mogul reached £12,000. This figure is higher than the amount recorded in the official register.
A spokesperson for Ms Badenoch said that she "was pleased to meet Rupert Murdoch and senior News Corp and News UK executives."
The spokesperson added that the visit "has been declared in full in the usual way."
Regarding her relationship with the press, the spokesperson stated that Ms Badenoch "values serious engagement with Britain's major media organisations and the people who run them (including at the BBC) and will continue to".
The purpose of the visit was for "off-site meetings" with Mr Murdoch and other senior figures within News Corp and News UK.
