Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, has spoken by phone with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, according to a statement from Qatar’s foreign ministry.
The statement said Sheikh Mohammed firmly rejected Iran’s claim that its attacks in Qatar were aimed solely at US assets and did not hit civilian sites.
Qatar said “the facts on the ground clearly show” the strikes hit civilian and residential areas, including near Hamad International Airport, as well as vital infrastructure and industrial zones that contain liquefied natural gas (LNG) production facilities, according to the ministry.
The Qatari statement said the strikes amounted to a “blatant violation” of Qatar’s sovereignty and international law.
