Qatar says it was targeted by two ballistic missiles launched from Iran, with one intercepted and the other striking Al Udeid airbase, which hosts US forces.

The Defence Ministry statement follows reports of explosions heard near the capital, Doha, several hours earlier.

Qatar said there were no reports of casualties and added: “Our armed forces possess full capabilities to protect and preserve the sovereignty of the state and its territory, and to firmly confront any threat.”
