Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said any deal to bring the conflict to an end must include compensation for Iran as well as guarantees against further military action.
In a post on X, he said he had reiterated Tehran’s commitment to regional peace during conversations with the leaders of Russia and Pakistan.
Pezeshkian argued that the only basis for ending the war, which he said had been triggered by Israel and the United States, would be recognition of Iran’s lawful rights, the payment of reparations and firm international assurances to prevent any future attack.
His remarks came as the Trump administration maintained that Donald Trump would decide when the conflict ends. The US president has also insisted that Tehran must accept what he has called an unconditional surrender before any halt to the war.
