Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who Iranian media have reported was killed in US–Israeli strikes over the weekend, is due to be buried in the holy city of Mashhad, according to reports carried by Fars.

Khamenei was born in Mashhad — Iran’s second-largest city — where his father is buried at the Imam Reza shrine. No date for the burial has been announced.
