Italy says it will temporarily remove all personnel from a military base in Iraq’s semi-autonomous Kurdistan region after the site was hit in a drone attack.

Ministers said the move would complete a withdrawal that had already been set in motion.

Defence Minister Guido Crosetto told Italian news programme TG1 that the pull-out had been planned before Wednesday’s strike, which caused no injuries.
