An Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) spokesperson says Iran is directing the majority of its missile and drone operations at US forces and interests in the Middle East, rather than at Israel.
In a televised address, Ali Mohammad Naeini said: “About 60% of our offensive capability — our missile fire and drone operations — is directed at the bases and strategic interests of the United States in the region, and 40% is directed at the targets of the Israeli regime.”
He described the US as “the main enemy” in the conflict and said American bases in the region were being prioritised for “punishment”, adding that Iran views those facilities as “legitimate targets”.
Naeini also claimed Iran has shot down 80 drones sent towards it, including what he described as three US MQ-9 drones and 74 Israeli drones. He insisted Iran’s missile and drone stockpiles are sufficient for a prolonged conflict, citing heavy missiles, ballistic and cruise missiles, drones and assault vessels.
Separately, the UAE’s Defence Ministry has said the country has been hit heavily by spillover, reporting it has detected more than 230 ballistic missiles and over 1,400 drones since the conflict began.
