Iran has launched fresh drone and missile attacks on Israel and several Gulf states, though the pace of strikes appears to have eased compared with previous days.
Air raid sirens sounded this morning in Dubai and Bahrain amid warnings of incoming missiles, while Saudi Arabia said it had destroyed two drones over its eastern oil-producing region. Kuwait’s National Guard also reported intercepting six drones.
Later, warning sirens were heard in Jerusalem, and explosions were reported over Tel Aviv as Israeli air defence systems moved to intercept incoming fire.
Despite the apparent slowdown, Iran’s leadership signalled there would be no retreat. Parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Tehran was “definitely not looking for a ceasefire”.
Correspondent Sally Lockwood, reporting from Dubai, said the Gulf was now experiencing “a slightly different tempo” in the attacks, with strikes becoming less frequent even as the threat remains constant.
For countries across the region, however, the sense is that a dangerous new phase of daily insecurity has taken hold.
