Israel’s military says it has carried out a major strike in central Tehran, claiming around 50 fighter jets hit an underground bunker built for Iran’s supreme leader.

In a statement on Telegram, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the bunker was located beneath a leadership compound in the heart of the Iranian capital and was intended to serve as a secure command facility.

The IDF also repeated its claim that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed in the initial US–Israeli strikes last Saturday, and said he was “eliminated” before he could use the bunker during what it called Operation “Roaring Lion”. It added that the compound “continued to be used by senior Iranian regime officials”.
