The Israel Defence Forces says it has identified what it describes as a new ballistic missile attack from Iran towards Israel.

In a Telegram post published at 7.26pm UK time, the IDF says its defensive systems are being used to try to intercept the incoming threat.

According to the Israeli military, this is the first Iranian missile attack on Israel it has reported in 11 hours.

In a separate update, the IDF also says it has launched what it calls a wave of strikes on Hezbollah targets in Beirut, Lebanon.
