ABC News reports that US Central Command (CENTCOM) described the cargo ship M/V Huda as the 11th ship it has disabled since the US blockade of Iran began in July. That count does not match the CENTCOM figures reported earlier.
The Hawk, citing CENTCOM, reports that since July US forces have redirected 147 commercial vessels and disabled five merchant ships that refused to comply.
The Hawk adds that US forces had previously destroyed 10 Iranian commercial oil tankers. CENTCOM alleges these were part of a multibillion-dollar scheme.
Neither report explains the difference between 11 ships and five. Neither figure has been independently checked.
CENTCOM says a US aircraft fired munitions at the stern of the St Kitts-flagged Huda in the Gulf of Oman on Saturday 7 November. It says the ship was trying to breach the blockade.
