Iran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, said on Sunday 8 November that Iran's two-day proposal to the US still stands. He warned that Iranian forces would "rain down hell" if Washington chose war.
In a post on X, he wrote:
"American voters have made their choice. Time for the White House to make its own."
"Our 2-day proposal stands: meet the requirements, including end to war on all fronts, and you will see results."
"Or choose war, and see our alert and battle-hardened Warriors rain down hell."
Araghchi also told Iranian state TV that mediators had made no progress since the "shock" of the US midterm elections, AFP reports via the New Indian Express. "We now have to see how long it will take for them to digest these results, in order to determine how we are going to move forward," he said.
His insistence that the US meet requirements first is consistent with earlier Reuters and AP reports that Iran wants its conditions agreed before nuclear talks. He did not list the requirements in full. The seven demands Reuters reported remain unpublished.
AFP reports that fighting has largely subsided, but Iran is still trying to blockade the Strait of Hormuz and the US Navy maintains a counter-blockade of Iranian ports.
