Iran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, says he spoke to 12 foreign ministers over 48 hours in an effort to defuse regional tensions. He made the claim in a social media post on Saturday 7 November.
According to The National and CGTN, the ministers were from the UAE, Turkey, Pakistan, Qatar, Oman, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Tunisia, Iraq and Cyprus.
Araghchi said he set out Iran's "fundamental positions" in the calls. The National reports that he called for regional security arrangements without the involvement of powers from outside the region.
The account of the calls is Araghchi's own. It has not been independently checked.
