Vape shops and adult gaming centres lose business rates reliefs in Budget

Adult gaming centres and vape shops will no longer get business rates reliefs, the Chancellor, John Healey, says in his Budget statement. He also extends the business rates Transitional Relief Supplement for two more years.

"I will carve out adult gaming centres and vape shops from business rate reliefs, and extend the business rates Transitional Relief Supplement for a further two years"

The quote is as reported by HuffPost UK.

Healey also limits the rise in machine games duty from 20% to 25% to higher-stakes machines, with pubs and seaside arcades protected, according to HuffPost UK and Business Matters.

The changes are part of his high street package. That package is partly paid for by making online marketplaces collect VAT from their sellers. A 20% rates cut for pubs, clubs and music venues from April 2027 had already been announced before the Budget.
