Tony Blair Institute urges Healey to put cheaper energy ahead of net zero

The Tony Blair Institute for Global Change is urging the Chancellor, John Healey, to shift the government's energy strategy away from net zero targets and towards cheaper supply in tomorrow's Budget.

The think tank says the government should replace its Clean Power 2030 strategy with a new "cheaper power mission", the Independent reports, carrying PA copy.

This is a lobbying position, not government policy. No cost for the proposal has been given, and no Treasury response has been reported.

Mr Healey delivers the Budget to the Commons on Wednesday 28 October.
