We report that The Times and Bloomberg, citing unnamed sources, say Chancellor John Healey will use Wednesday's Budget to raise the National Living Wage by about 3.9 per cent to around £13.20 an hour from April 2027. Bloomberg put the rise at about 4 per cent. A Treasury spokesman declined to comment.
The adult rate is currently £12.71. The reports say the 18 to 20 rate would rise by the same proportion, from £10.85 to about £11.27.
Our check finds the reported adult figure is close to the Low Pay Commission's central estimate of £13.18 for April 2027. None of the figures will be confirmed until the Budget.
