Healey reported to pledge £4.7bn to fill defence investment plan shortfall

The Chancellor, John Healey, will pledge to plug a £4.7bn shortfall in the defence investment plan in today's Budget, according to a Budget-day roundup carried by AOL UK.

The roundup does not name the outlet behind the report. It does not say how the money would be found.

The Treasury has not confirmed the figure. Until it appears in the Chancellor's statement or is confirmed by the Treasury, it should be treated as a report.

The report also does not say whether the £4.7bn is part of the £20.4bn for the National Wealth Fund and the British Business Bank or comes on top of it.
