Andy Burnham has confirmed that changes to the Green Book, the Treasury's rules for appraising infrastructure projects, will be delivered in Wednesday's Budget. The changes are designed to boost the North.
He gave the confirmation after a "situation room" call with England's mayors, the Yorkshire Post reports. He was quoted as saying:
"And at next week's Budget I will set out plans to transfer more power and resources out of Westminster and into postcodes across the country."
The changes to the appraisal rules were originally announced by Rachel Reeves. The Treasury says the updated framework will support place-based business cases.
According to the Treasury, the Green Book will consider funding that supports low employment and skill shortages. It will also consider how projects can work together.
Burnham also said No10 North will help areas not represented by mayors.
