Labour MPs on Teesside are welcoming the Budget, while a Reform UK councillor says it falls short of what families need, Teesside Live reports.
Luke Myer, Labour MP for Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland, says the £100 energy payment will help around 287,000 families in Tees Valley. He puts that at 90% of households. His figures have not been independently checked.
Andy McDonald, Labour MP for Middlesbrough and Thornaby East, told Teesside Live:
"Today's Budget contains welcome measures that should give families some much-needed breathing space after years of pressure on household finance."
Redcar Labour MP Anna Turley highlights the extension of parental pay to self-employed fathers and partners, and the 3.9% rise in the National Living Wage.
Cllr Rush of Reform UK says the £100 payment will be outweighed by January's rise in the energy price cap. She told Teesside Live:
"Labour can dress this Budget up however it likes, but in my view it falls well short of what working families need. It's what people have left in their pockets that matters."
She points to her party's pledge to cut average household energy bills by £250 a year.
