Reform UK plans to publish an alternative Budget on Monday 26 October, two days before the Chancellor, John Healey, delivers his statement to the Commons, according to party officials quoted in a report on KuCoin News.
The document is being prepared by the Reform UK leader, Nigel Farage, and its Treasury spokesperson, Robert Jenrick. Party officials say it is meant to show Reform is ready to govern.
According to the report, Reform has promised to raise the tax-free personal allowance from £12,570 to £15,000. Farage has also promised to abolish tax on pay for military reservists. The report gives no costing for either pledge, and neither has been independently checked.
Reform officials say Farage and the deputy leader, Richard Tice, will be in the Commons on Wednesday. Jenrick will also attend but plans to leave before the debate ends so he can respond online.
On Tuesday 20 October, Jenrick described Healey's approach as a "betrayal of everything he said he stood for", the report says.
Kemi Badenoch will respond to the Budget in the Commons as leader of the official opposition. She has been reported as calling the delay in setting out defence funding details "unconscionable".
