Reform UK names 64 measures in alternative Budget, led by tax-free overtime

Reform UK says its alternative Budget contains 64 measures, firming up the "more than 60" it gave before the launch. Its flagship measure is scrapping income tax on overtime for people earning under £75,000, according to a Reform UK release.

The party would also raise the VAT registration threshold to £150,000. Nigel Farage contrasted this with Jeremy Hunt's rise of what he called "a derisory £5,000".

Launching the plan in Westminster today, Robert Jenrick addressed the Chancellor, John Healey, directly: "If you're watching, you're welcome to borrow it." Reform's release ran under the headline "Britain is broke, but Britain isn't beaten".

The Daily Britain website reports that the spending cuts would be £40bn at first, rising to £80bn by the fifth year of a government. It says they would come from welfare, the civil service, overseas aid and net zero subsidies. The higher figure appears in that one report only, and none of the figures has been independently costed.

The same outlet reports that the room at Lindley Hall was half empty and that Farage blamed "staff incompetence". That account has not been confirmed elsewhere.
