Downing Street is adding £432m to its programme to end rough sleeping in England, taking total funding to £874m and extending it to the end of the parliament in 2029, we report. The Chancellor, John Healey, is due to confirm the money in Wednesday's Budget.
The extra sum almost doubles the £442m programme announced in August. Andy Burnham said he does not accept rough sleeping. Conservative shadow housing secretary Katie Lam said he failed to solve the problem in Greater Manchester.
Downing Street has not said whether the money is new Treasury funding or comes from existing departmental budgets.
