More voters positive than negative about the Budget, BMG poll for the i Paper finds

More people feel positive than negative about John Healey's Budget, according to polling by BMG Research for the i Paper. It found 33% felt positive about the Budget and 28% felt negative.

The i Paper reports that this is the first fiscal event since 2022 that more people have viewed positively than negatively. That claim has not been independently checked.

An analyst quoted in the report says the positive reaction reflects wider positive feeling about the government more than the Budget itself. The analyst also says fewer people had heard about this Budget than about previous Labour fiscal events.

On voting intention, the same poll puts Labour on 31%, up three points on last month's BMG poll, and Reform UK on 22%, a nine-point Labour lead. The Conservatives are ten points behind Labour.

The i Paper says this is Labour's highest BMG share since August 2024. It also says Reform's share is its lowest since October 2024, down from a high of 35% in August 2025. Labour was on 23% in July, behind Reform on 27%, according to the report.
