We report that the government's major projects watchdog recorded £1.86bn leaving the Army's Boxer armoured vehicle programme in 2025-26, when John Healey was still Defence Secretary. He delivers his first Budget as Chancellor on Wednesday 28 October.
The Telegraph reported that nearly £2bn had been removed. The Ministry of Defence disputes the description of a cut. It says its "committed £2.2bn budget over the next four years" for 623 Boxer vehicles is unchanged and that the changes "relate to future spend that was uncommitted". When the funding was removed, and by whom, is not yet clear.
