An energy minister, Baroness Curran, has told the House of Lords that the OBR would have to republish its figures if the Rosebank oil field does not go ahead, Brit Brief reports.
According to the report, she said the OBR would "have to republish the figures if Rosebank does not go ahead and it will need to be addressed".
Brit Brief reports that the Energy Secretary, Miatta Fahnbulleh, is leaning towards rejecting Rosebank, which has not yet been approved. The shadow energy secretary Andrew Bowie says the OBR forecasts assume its approval.
The OBR forecast published with the Budget predicts £5.1bn from oil and gas taxes in 2026-27, Brit Brief reports. It says that figure covers existing fields but also includes the North Sea Transition Authority's estimate of production from potential new projects, such as Rosebank, and future discoveries.
The report does not establish whether the forecast relies on Rosebank specifically, or by how much. The minister's remarks have not been independently checked against the parliamentary record.
