The Chancellor, John Healey, will give £15m to a fund to tackle misogyny in workplaces, schools and public places, the Guardian reports. He is expected to confirm the money in the Budget on Wednesday. The Treasury has not separately confirmed it.
According to the Guardian, the move comes amid government concern about 'manosphere' influencers. The fund will be led by the Women and Equalities Minister, Bridget Phillipson, who announced a misogyny prevention taskforce last month.
The Guardian says organisations will be able to bid for money for youth mentoring, workplace training and awareness campaigns. Bidders are encouraged to find match funding from corporate partners and philanthropists.
The Guardian describes this as the first specific national cash to address misogyny. That claim has not been independently checked. A separate £20m package for schools on misogynistic influences was announced earlier, according to the Guardian.
The report does not say where the money will come from within the Budget's figures.
