The Chancellor, John Healey, is making permanent a temporary rise in the lower approved mileage rate to 55p a mile, according to Autocar.
Autocar reports that the rate, which covers business drivers doing under 10,000 miles a year, was temporarily raised from 45p to 55p a mile for the current tax year. It says Healey announced in the Budget that the rise is now permanent.
This sits alongside the change to the higher rate, for drivers covering more than 10,000 miles a year, which rises from 25p to 35p a mile.
The detail on the lower rate has not yet been independently checked against Treasury documents.
