Kemi Badenoch, the Conservative leader, has called on the Chancellor, John Healey, to resign. In her Commons reply to the Budget, she accused him of failing his own test on setting a firm date for defence spending to reach 3% of GDP.
She recalled his resignation as defence secretary in June, London Loves Business reports.
"If he had any decency, he would resign again today"
She also told MPs: "We are overspent, overborrowed, overtaxed, and drowning in an out-of-control welfare system".
Ms Badenoch repeated her claim that the UK spends more on debt interest than on the Army and schools combined. That claim has not been independently checked.
