The content is a run of posts from Eitaa channels linked to Ali-Akbar Raefipour (@raefipour) and his Masaf Institute (@Masaf), dated 26–28 Mehr 1405 (about 18–20 October 2026). It mixes religious commentary, an event notice, and relays of news about the US/Israel–Iran war that began on 28 February 2026, the Strait of Hormuz crisis, mediation efforts and Iraqi border closures. I researched the high-priority claims against dated sources. Five factual cores were verified: the Lamerd sports-hall strike that killed coach Mahmoud Najafi; the Trump–Netanyahu phone-call quotes; Israel's Channel 12 report on the Pakistani army chief's proposal; Iraqi PM Ali al-Zaidi's order to close the al-Shib crossing; and the multi-month disruption of Hormuz. The Al-Araby Al-Jadeed proposal is partly misdescribed. Mainstream reporting says it involves interest on (or, in some outlets, release of) USD 6 billion in frozen funds in exchange for IAEA access. None of the reports reviewed mentioned reopening the strait as a condition. The exact Rubio quote, the specific Mélenchon statement and the '8 European countries' claim could not be confirmed. Masaf's denial that it filed a complaint against Ali Zia's 'Ba Zia' programme contradicts Ali Zia's own public account, so it remains disputed. Presentation is highly partisan: world leaders are given slurs ('child killer', 'yellow paedophile dog'), and readers are invited to celebrate other countries' economic hardship. This sharply reduces trustworthiness, even though some underlying facts are correct.
What checked out (5)
- C2 – Mahmoud Najafi, a PE teacher and football coach, was killed in a missile strike on the Shahid Naimi sports hall in Lamerd (Fars province) on 28 February 2026, the first day of the war. 28 February 2026 was a Saturday and matches 9 Esfand 1404. Airwars, Middle East Eye and Tehran Times all document the death; Airwars assesses that the munition was a new long-range US weapon (PrSM) and found no reports of militants or military targets hit. The labels 'terrorist' and the joint 'American-Zionist' attribution are the channel's framing: the evidence reviewed points to a US munition, and Israeli involvement in this specific strike was not established.
- C5 – The Trump–Netanyahu call quotes are substantively accurate. In a call Netanyahu released on 19 October 2026, after Trump endorsed him ahead of Israel's 27 October election, Netanyahu said 'Donald, we have a job to finish' (reportedly invoking Iran). Trump called him 'a great warrior', predicted a 'tremendous victory' and said 'you're the man I want by my side' (Israel National News, JNS, Times of Israel, Antiwar.com). The post leaves out the election-endorsement context and replaces the leaders' names with slurs.
- C7 – Israel's Channel 12 did report that a proposal delivered by Pakistan's army chief to senior Iranian officials had US approval and preliminary Iranian agreement (FXStreet and ChainCatcher, both 20 October 2026). Whether the proposal was actually approved has not been officially confirmed; Investing.com called it 'unconfirmed'.
- C9 – Iraq is closing the al-Sheib/al-Shib crossing (Maysan) to Iran under directives from PM Ali al-Zaidi, with no reason disclosed, and other crossings are expected to close gradually (964media, 20 October 2026). Al Arabiya, via Newsquawk, reported the crossing completely closed the same day. Ali al-Zaidi has been PM since 14 May 2026 (Al Jazeera).
- C6a – The Strait of Hormuz has been largely blocked or disrupted for more than seven months since the war began on 28 February 2026 (Al Jazeera, 4 October 2026). Disruption was not continuous: there was a June 2026 memorandum and ceasefire, and oil flows partly recovered in September (France 24, 2 October 2026).
Disputed claims 2 claims ⌄
- C3 – DISPUTED, not adjudicated as False. Masaf says reports that it and Raefipour filed a complaint against Ali Zia and 'Ba Zia' are 'utterly false'. But Ali Zia publicly stated that the Shahid Raisi Foundation, Raefipour, Mahsouli and Sabeti had complained, causing the programme's suspension (Entekhab, Fararu, SNN, 18–19 October 2026). A separate criminal complaint was filed by the Tehran prosecutor over economic claims made on the programme (Didban Iran, September 2026, citing the judiciary's media centre). No court record is publicly available to settle the matter, so both accounts remain unconfirmed.
- C8 – PARTLY MISDESCRIBED. The post says Al-Araby Al-Jadeed reported a Qatar–Pakistan deal in which USD 6 billion of Iran's assets is paid, Iran resumes talks and reopens the strait. Mainstream summaries of the 20 October 2026 report describe interest on USD 6 billion held in Qatari banks (CBS, Business Today, Iran International, Arab Times), or in some outlets release of the funds (Israel National News), in exchange for an undisclosed IAEA visit or nuclear access. None of the summaries reviewed included reopening the strait as a condition. That Asim Munir conveyed the proposal is confirmed. The prediction that this would lower oil prices and secure a Republican win in the US elections is speculation.
Unverified claims 5 claims ⌄
- C1 – Rubio quoted as saying 'If Iran had a nuclear weapon, no one could stop it controlling the Strait of Hormuz.' I found no source with this exact wording. Similar positions are well documented: in May 2026 he said Iran was holding the world hostage with the strait and would do so with a nuclear weapon (VINnews, citing a Fox News interview), and in Athens on 7 October 2026 he said 'Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. Simple, period, end of story' (RFE/RL, Al Arabiya). Rubio's role as US Secretary of State is confirmed. The quote is probably a paraphrase, but its exact wording and date remain unverified.
- C4 – A video of Jean-Luc Mélenchon (La France Insoumise) blaming Western warmongers for the Hormuz crisis and saying the French people are not responsible for the war. I could not locate this clip or statement. Context consistent with it: Mélenchon is campaigning on fuel prices (Public Sénat, 23 September 2026) and has questioned Macron's Hormuz stance (his X post, March 2026). The channel's gloating comment ('may it always be so') is opinion.
- C6b – 'Iran has thrown 8 European countries into turmoil for 7 months.' The figure of eight countries is unsupported by any source found. Joint statements involved five European states plus Japan, and later 22 countries. Comparing this to 'five decades of sanctions' is opinion.
- C10 – Notice of Fatemiyeh mourning ceremonies with Raefipour at Valiasr Square, Tehran, from Thursday 30 Mehr (four nights, talk at 22:00). Low priority; not independently checked.
- C11 – Theological commentary on why people with disabilities were created. This is opinion and religious interpretation, so it cannot be fact-checked. It is flagged under presentation for its instrumentalising framing of disabled people.
Sources & how we checked Search journal, source grades, confidence ⌄
Confidence
Medium — Confidence is high for the verified items: Lamerd, the call quotes, the Channel 12 report and the Iraqi crossing closure each have several independent, dated reports from 18–20 October 2026 or from the incident record. Confidence is lower overall for four reasons. Three relayed claims (the Rubio wording, the Mélenchon clip, the '8 countries' figure) could not be located. The Masaf–Ali Zia dispute rests on competing self-interested statements. The full Al-Araby original was not reviewed. And the situation is changing quickly. The trust score of 42 reflects broadly accurate factual cores in several relays, heavily offset by dehumanising propaganda framing, missing context, one misdescribed report and no citations from the source itself.
