Stephen Mousdell, a newly elected Reform UK councillor for Haydock in St Helens, has resigned after explicit videos linked to him surfaced online under the alias “LachlanTaylorUK”.
The videos, widely shared online, allegedly show Mousdell engaging in sexual acts, including some appearing to take place in public settings.

Reform UK deputy leader Richard Tice was questioned about the controversy on Nick Ferrari’s breakfast show on Friday morning.
Responding to the revelations, Tice said: “When you stand 5,000 candidates, whether you’re the Green Party or any other party, you’ll occasionally get the odd person.”
In a lengthy statement announcing his resignation, Mousdell defended both himself and his partner, insisting they had “done no wrongdoing” and had always been open about their involvement in the adult industry.
He said: “We have always been transparent about it and not ashamed of what we do. We have full-time jobs and also work in the adult profession, where we abide by all EU and UK laws.
“We have never broken any laws or put anything into dispute.”
Mousdell claimed he had come under intense pressure from the media, political figures and individuals within the town hall following the revelations.
“It is with sincere regret I am resigning as Reform councillor for Haydock Ward,” he said.
“I was told to apologise to the public and stop doing what I was doing if I wanted a chance of remaining a councillor, but I refused because I have done nothing wrong.
“I am who I am. I’m proud of what I do, there is no shame in it and I am proud to be a gay individual in this community.”
His OnlyFans biography reportedly described him as a “gay pornstar and DJ”, while posts on social media promoted collaborations and adult content.
Some videos circulating online allegedly showed Mousdell engaging in sexual activity outdoors. While there has been no suggestion of criminal wrongdoing, public sexual activity can in some circumstances fall under offences relating to outraging public decency.
Other clips reportedly featured him taking part in explicit content under the branding “Northern Lads”.
Despite the controversy, Reform UK defended Mousdell and said his private life was a matter for him.
A party spokesperson said: “While Cllr Mousdell’s lifestyle choices may not be to everyone’s taste, he has not broken the law. What consenting adults do in their private lives is their own business.
“The electorate were fully aware of Cllr Mousdell’s lifestyle choices weeks before the election and still chose to elect him.
“Cllr Mousdell is an asset to his local community and even received the St Helens Mayor’s Good Citizen Award for his services to the borough.”
In his resignation statement, Mousdell thanked Reform UK and councillors from across the political spectrum, saying those he met had been “lovely people” who were trying to do what was best for their communities.
A spokesperson for St Helens Borough Council confirmed his resignation had been received and said the process to trigger a by-election would begin once requested by two registered electors in the ward.
