Bailey Nash-Gardner, the owner and founder of Politics UK, has won a seat for Reform UK in Havering, raising fresh questions about political neutrality and conflicts of interest surrounding one of Britain's most influential political news aggregation platforms.
Nash-Gardner, who according to his LinkedIn profile has been active in Conservative politics since at least 2017, previously served as campaign manager and parliamentary assistant to the then Conservative MP Andrew Rosindell between 2023 and 2026.
According to The Independent, Rosindell was previously involved in the 2009 expenses scandal after claiming more than £125,000 in second home expenses for a flat in London whilst designating his childhood home 17 miles away — where his mother lived — as his main address. In 2024, the Metropolitan Police dropped a rape and sexual assault investigation against Rosindell, stating that the evidence threshold for criminal prosecution had not been met and that no further action would be taken. Rosindell denied all wrongdoing.

There is no suggestion that Nash-Gardner was involved in or aware of the matters relating to Rosindell.
Despite repeatedly presenting Politics UK as politically neutral, critics have pointed to the platform's coverage and language choices as evidence of apparent bias. In a post published on election day, the account referred to a group of independent candidates as "the Muslim independents," despite not applying similar religious or ethnic labels to other independent candidates. Critics accused the post of singling out Muslim candidates in a way that risked fuelling division.
Politics UK first rose to prominence in 2021 under its former name, Politics For All, by reposting and aggregating breaking political news from major media outlets. The platform rapidly built a large audience across social media by positioning itself as a fast-moving source for political updates.
In 2022, the account was taken over by Nash-Gardner, who continued expanding its reach to hundreds of thousands of followers across multiple platforms.
After acquiring the account at the age of 17, Nash-Gardner founded News Hub Group Limited, now renamed Politics News Group Limited, which expanded the brand into online publishing, commentary and political media coverage. The company has also announced ambitions to host live political events.
However, Nash-Gardner's political background has led some to question whether the platform can genuinely be considered politically impartial.
According to his LinkedIn profile, in 2019 he undertook work experience with the then Conservative MP Julie Marson before later becoming founder and director of Young Conservatives for CANZUK, a campaign group advocating for closer political and economic integration between the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. He later held a social media role with Conservative Friends of the Armed Forces, joined the board of Conservatives for CANZUK, and went on to become chairman of the Hertford and Stortford Young Conservatives branch.
Nash-Gardner's election to Havering Council means that one of the country's most prominent political social media platforms — one that describes itself as offering "impartial coverage" — is now owned by a sitting councillor representing a party that critics say receives favourable coverage on the platform.
